How Do You Record Video On An Acer Aspire One Netbook?
Ok, I have an Acer Aspire One. It has a webcam, but I can only take still photos (not record video). Does anyone know how to record video? I don't think its the same hack you use to record video on an Acer laptop, considering the performance of my netbook.
Acer Aspire One : 120GB Linux
Introduction
Acer has been among the top companies in providing unique mobile computing solutions suiting varied users. This latest netbook offering from Acer has created quite a stir in the market. This simplified Linux operated netbook is a charm and packs in sufficient features to perform satisfactorily.
This netbook is small and sleek but the performance is truly appealing.
Design
The build up of the netbook is sturdy and the finishing is leveled. Thy keyboard is sufficiently large and better than other netbooks available in the market. The touch pad mouse has the click buttons on the sides. This is unique and will take time in getting used to if you have been a regular user of the touch pad on a standard laptop. It has an 8.9-inch LCD display screen which is wide in layout. It also has a dedicated page scroll button which comes quiet handy in case of such small sized netbooks. It weighs less than a kilo, which makes it extremely portable to carry around.
Key Features
The laptop is powered by Atom processor functioning at1.6 GHz. It has 512 MB RAM, which might be a let down for many, but at the size and functions of this netbook it is commendable. There are no glitches in performing most of the tasks thrown at it. It has an 8 GB flash memory and is also available with an extension of 80 GB built. It has all the capability of a laptop, with a slimmer design and simpler layout.
The user interface is the simplified version of Linux operating system. It will take time for the Windows users to get used to it. Setting up newer application might bit tricky for the new users but with little understanding it will be a breeze. It has a 3-cell battery which gives about 2.5 hours of usage. This is commendable with 6-cell laptops giving the same battery performance.
Cons
A big concern might be the touch pad mouse buttons. They are placed on the sides which will not be easy using it at first. The RAM of the netbook might be an issue for many users who want to run varied applications. The pre-installed media application doesn't run many popular media file formats which again will be a concern for many and take need extra effort of installing them.
Conclusion
This netbook is light, cheap and works fast. It will be a true winner for those looking out at a replacement of bulky laptops and would want a portable machine for basic computing needs.
NETBOOK – Acer Aspire One
The Acer Aspire One may look and feel like a laptop but it's not a laptop , that's what the company have tried so hard to have you think, this model as an "internet device". Other companies who have joined in on the "internet device" success are also refraining from referring to their products as mini laptops and prefer to call them [netbooks]. Netbooks are extremely popular at the moment and have been selling very well, the reason for this is because they are very portable and to be honest also very cute. However, the reason that these companies want you to refer to them as anything but laptops is because they don't have the same functions and features as fully fledged laptops. Netbooks are predominantly to be used for surfing the web, some do offer other features such as web cameras and the odd game and of course imputing text but if you mainly use your laptop for playing World of Warcraft then you can forget trading in your laptop for one of these as the graphics card just won't come close to supporting it, let alone have enough memory to even load the game. However, this negative comment aside, what are the benefits of the devices? The best way to answer this is to take a closer look at one of the most popular netbooks on the market. The Acer Aspire One is a very sleek and stylish looking device and at just 249 x 29 x 170mm, it's also a very small device as well. The One is also very lightweight as it weighs in at just 995g, however, it saves on weight by having a small battery that will only keep your laptop, sorry, netbook going for a mere two hours. Acer laptops are usually well-built machines and can serve your laptop needs well for a couple of years or so, this is why it seems unfair to judge their netbook by these standards, instead the One should be judged on its own merits separately. As soon as you do this you begin to see just how impressive this gadget really is, with merits such as its keyboard which is 95 per cent the size of a full laptop keyboard, its tiny size and of course the fact that as this netbook is focussing on just one main job /searching the internet, it is also extremely quick powering up and loading pages. The best way to decide whether or not you need a netbook is to look at how much time you spend on the internet. If you spend most of your time on your laptop searching the web then perhaps investing in a netbook would be worth while and a lot better than carting around a full sized laptop. However, before you purchase one, it makes sense to search the internet and compare the cost of a few different devices in order to find cheap laptops or netbooks.
Companies want people to refer to their devices as internet devices or netbooks rather than mini laptops because the netbooks don't have as many features as a laptop does. Acer laptops have always been very good machines and can live up to their promises. If you plan on purchasing a laptop or a netbook in order to surf the internet, play games, type up word documents etc then the best thing to do is to compare prices in order to find cheap laptops or netbooks.
